Lefoo Flow Switch

The flow switch, also known as the flow switch, is an extremely important component in the most varied systems in our daily lives.

Do you know how a flow switch works?

Flow sensors work with a magnetic piston and a reed switch contact. According to the fluid flow in the system, the piston is activated, activating the contact. This actuation occurs by the existence of flow, not pressure, as occurs in the case of pressure switches.

The importance of the presence of flow switches in the system is not limited to flow signaling only or not, but mainly as a protection to a system. A water pump system, for example, can be damaged if it works without the proper flow of water. A liquid heating system has its burners fired or stopped according to the presence of the required flow, measured and reported by a flow switch.

Flow switch application

Flow switches can be applied to the measurement of water flow, oils and aqueous liquids and their sensitivity can be adjusted to detect the flow to be controlled.

Flow switches are commonly used in cooling systems, lubrication systems, and are applied as protection for hydraulic pumps. They are also applied in heating installations, air conditioning installations, water-sanitary installations with instant hot water heat exchangers, water treatment plants, additive introduction systems, systems and industrial installations in general.

In these applications, the flow switches perform various functions, such as alarm activation, control of hydraulic pumps, burners, motorized valves, among others.

In lubrication systems, the flow switches have the function of monitoring the flow of lubricating oil from the pump to the lubrication point. This monitoring involves not only ensuring that lubrication exists, but also ensuring proper and constant flow in the system.

The choice of flow switch to be used should observe some application characteristics, including: Type of lubrication system; the volume of lubricant to be monitored; oil viscosity; pressure in the system, among others.
